A brief biography of Dr. Homa Darabi
Dr. Homa Darabi was born, premature by two months, to Eshrat Dastyar, a child bride, married at thirteen and Esmaeil Darabi in January of 1940, in Tehran, Iran. She completed her elementary and high school education in Tehran and immediately entered the University of Tehran School of Medicine after passing the university's entrance exam in 1959. She was in the first 150 out of thousands of students who took the examination and the 300 who were accepted (Medical School's capacity)...

There are two types of violence perpetrated against women. There is the violence perpetrated by husbands, boyfriends, lovers of female victims and then there is the violence perpetrated against women by parents (including female babies and children), brothers, uncles, in-laws, priests, mullah's, witch doctors, religious vigilantes, and government officials, etc...       
Goals and Objectives
Dr. Homa Darabi's Foundation is a non-profit organization, independent from all present political, social and religious factions with goal and objective to promote the Rights of women and children as defined by the Universal Declaration of the United Nations 1948 General Assembly.

Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, Sept. 95
"...The event was magnificent and unique in its entirety. This was the first time so many women had gathered to find together a solution to our cultural, social and economical problems and perhaps to find some middle grounds where we could live with all male dominated religious, governmental and political environment."       
Atlanta Plus, An Exemplary Project - Parvin Darabi
The Atlanta Plus committee was created in 1992 following the Barcelona Olympic Games to demand the exclusion of the national delegations that exclude women athletes from the Atlanta Games. The committee is composed of women and men fighting discrimination against women. The field of sports is important for itself and also because it puts the spotlight on institutionalized segregation of women practiced in particular by the Islamic regimes.
